About

One studio,
one workshop,
a small number of projects.

The studio

Recurve Labs is a Pittsburgh-based software studio with two kinds of work: software we build ourselves and selective client engagements.

The studio builds its own SaaS products — the current flagship is RecurveIQ, a gamified knowledge habit app — and takes on a small number of client engagements each year in technical consulting, AI integration, and small business websites.

Recurve Labs is deliberately lean. That's a feature. You work directly with the person building your project. Decisions are fast. Accountability is clear. The consulting and the product work sharpen each other — shipping software we have to live with ourselves makes every client engagement better.

Founder

Recurve Labs is run by Holden Monroe.

Holden is a Lead Software Engineer with more than a decade of front-end experience. His background includes large-scale React and TypeScript architecture, component systems, and e-commerce platforms. Recurve Labs is how that experience gets applied to software we build and to a small number of clients who value direct access to the person building their project.

The studio operates from Pittsburgh, PA, and takes local work seriously — but most engagements happen remotely.

Principles

How the studio operates.

01

We take on a small number of projects at a time — and defend that decision as a feature, not a limitation.

02

Direct access. No account managers, no hand-offs, no 'I'll check with the team.'

03

Shipping our own products sharpens the work we take on for clients. The two sides aren't separate.

04

Written proposals. Fixed scope. No surprise invoices, no scope creep.

05

Honest pricing and honest conversations. No bloated retainers, no dark patterns, no hype.
